Welcome to Cairn Cottage, a classic one-room, stone cottage sitting a stones throw from the Osage Arm of The Lake of the Ozarks (69MM). Relax in nature from the cabin hot tub year around. From May to September (and sometimes later) you can enjoy the Kayaks and SUPs at the lake lot. Please note that the cottage and lake lot are a short drive from each other. A boat slip is available 5/31-9/7 upon request. We always recommend travel insurance but especially encourage it during winter months

Good to know

This rustic, stone cottage consists of one large room and a separate bath. A wood stove provides cozy ambiance in the fall and winter. The modest yet functional kitchen is equipped with a Keurig, microwave, small fridge, stove and the utensils needed for everyday cooking. A queen sized bed and daybed round out the sleeping situation. One can enjoy the lovely view down the hill from the screen porch or the hot tub. Access to the swim dock and lake views is a two minute drive down the road.

Other Details to Note

Cairn Cottage welcomes families with open arms. However the cottage works best for children aged 5 and above. We are not equipped for infants and toddlers nor is the cottage childproof. Additionally, we require guests sign a waiver of liability as a condition of their stay. If you have any additional questions about this (or anything else!), please don't hesitate to ask before booking. We want everyone to have an exceptional stay!

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Cairn Cottage sits on 4 acres, a quarter mile from the Lake of the Ozarks (69MM, Osage Arm). The cottage is only a couple of miles off blacktop on gravel. The lake lot is about a mile further, down the same road. The Brown Bend Public Lake Access and boat ramp is 11 minutes (6mi) away. Be advised that this area of the lake was developed before HOAs were a thing. Expect to see a wide variety of housing in the area. If the occasional ramshackle house or trailer disturbs you, you might be more comfortable in an area that has HOA. Additionally, Cairn Cottage sits right next to woods with a great variety of wildlife. Sometimes this wildlife gets up close and personal. Please don’t feed it and please do consider bug spray. Also keep the front door closed unless you are going in and out to make sure you don’t end up with an unwanted visitor inside the cottage.

Guest Access

You have access to the entire cottage and surrounding yard. We also have a dock with shared access a short drive down the road that is available from May to October. A boat slip is available upon request from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is not available for fishing tournaments outside these dates. Our family wants you to have a pleasant stay in our cabin. We meet you upon arrival to show you the cabin amenities and make sure you have a handle on the wood stove or hot tub. We also show you how to get to the lake lot. After that, you might see us at the dock but we generally disappear until you need something.

My best friend and I had a wonderful stay! It was very private, relaxing, and had absolutely beautiful scenery. Hannah and Dannon were very responsive and kind. They even offered us a complimentary breakfast casserole that was absolutely delicious! The cabin was so charming and relaxing.

Hannah & Dannon were fantastic hosts! Not only were we provided with a local guestbook with close places/things to explore, but they were very responsive and accommodating as well. The cottage was immaculate and in a perfectly cozy spot with plenty of seclusion, while still close to the lake. The amenities provided by Hannah and Dannon made our trip even more memorable. My husband & I look forward to more weeks/weekends away here!

Had such a good weekend away from any noise or business, thanks to the peaceful location and privacy afforded by a lot of trees. The hosts were wonderful, Hannah is super responsive and Dannon showed us to the dock very kindly! The hot tub is fantastic as well as the screened in porch, we spent a ton of time out there. Could not recommend this place more!

We had a wonderful and relaxing time in this cabin. Our hosts provided the perfect blend of accessibility and privacy. They are both so warm and welcoming! They were quick to respond to any questions or issues that arose. The setting is very peaceful and lake access is close. We had so much fun using the kayaks and hanging out on the dock. We are already planning to return next year since it was such a nice time.

This was a perfect place for me, my partner, and my newborn baby to spend 3 days. We live in Dallas and specifically wanted a very peaceful, out of the way location to just sit and relax and not worry about bothering anyone with a potentially fussy infant. We had such a great time! The seclusion and the hot tub were the main draw- little did we know how much time we would spend on the screened in porch enjoying the stillness of the day or evening. It rained a lot of while we were there - made it even better! Having the extra room as living space to hang out in was really a bonus. We ended up not using any of the kayaks because of rain and laziness, but the equipment is really nice and the inlet is peaceful and would definitely be great for kayaking. My recommendation for travelers is to visit a store in a big city for supplies. Heather was gracious enough to pick us up some extras on her trip into town. Many, many thanks for that! And for hosting such a wonderful place.

Our stay at this cabin was absolutely wonderful! Nestled in the woods, it had the perfect cozy vibe, and the hot tub made it even better—especially during the rain, which was so peaceful. We loved taking the kayaks out on the lake in the evening, such a nice added touch. The hosts were fantastic and super helpful with directions and pointing us toward nearby stores. This place was adorable, and we’ll definitely be back!
